9 grain bread update: We will be giving that bakery 2 weeks off for them to sort through some packaging issues. They moved from bread trays to boxes, but the boxes were not fitting properly on a pallet and it was making things tip over in the trucks and smashing the bread, so they need to try something different. It has caused a lot of chaos for 2 weeks, so it was necessary to take a break, but rest assured, it will be back.
Conventional Basket
50% Fruit, 50% Vegetables and 100% healthy, delicious & fun
In the conventional basket we focus our buying as follows: High Quality, Low Cost and As Local as Possible… So, how hard do we try? Pretty hard! Most bananas are from Central America or the Caribbean and are grown by a couple gargantuan conglomerate growers. We get all of our bananas from small farmers in central Mexico. This saves the co-op between $4 and $7 a box, keeps money with small farmers, and helps keep the carbon footprint small.
LIMITED QUANTITY - 100% Certified Organic Basket – Together We are Changing the World One Dinner Table at a Time
LIMITED QUANTITY - Extra Virgin Olive Oil from Spain – 1 gallon in a tin -  This is high quality with a mild lovely olive flavor.  Great for cooking and salad dressings.  For dressing use 1/3 amount EVOO, 1/3 water, 1/3 vinegar of choice (red wine or balsamic are my favorites, and a dash of salt & pepper, onion and garlic powders, shake and serve.
LIMITED QUANTITY - Blackberries – 12 - 6 oz. clamshells from Mexico - Blackberry pie & preserves bring back memories of Summer's at my Grandma's picking blackberries by the creek.  More often than not we wouldn't bring back enough for a whole pie.  Our stained fingers and mouths were evidence of where they had all gone!  You can certainly get enough blackberries to make some canning worth it with this though.  Instead of the regular cap of 5 cases we raised it to 8!  Enjoy!  Make some fun memories of your own!
LIMITED QUANTITY - ORGANIC Greenbeans – Approx 15 Lb from California - I have recently been introduced to pickled Dilly Beans and Hot Dilly Beans and they are AMAZING!  These green beans would be terrific that way or just par boiled and frozen for a quick dinner, or pressure canned!
LIMITED QUANTITY - Apricots – Approximately 18 Lb from California -  Apricot jam on peanut butter and jelly sandwiches is my absolute favorite.  Apricots herald the beginning of the stone fruit and give a sweet taste of many Summer treats to come!
LIMITED QUANTITY - Soft White Wheat – Approximately 25 Lb from Idaho/Washington - Cakes and cookies, and salads with whole wheat berries!  Great for everyday use or storage.  Non-GMO, and sustainably farmed, grown on the Mader's family farm near Pullman, Washington, with farms on both sides of the border.  This year's harvest.  Amazing quality!
LIMITED QUANTITY - Veggie Lovers Pack - Italian Theme - Add extra veggies to your basket! An Italian-themed variety to fill out your dinner table. This will have ingredients that lend themselves to Italian food recipes. We never know exactly what until closer to keep the items fresh, but often garlic, basil, oregano, rosemary, yellow and red onion, flat parsley, bell peppers, regular mushrooms and eggplant.
*Recipe*  Sausage and Peppers  (and vegetarian alternate!)
1 large onion
4 cloves garlic
2 - 4 bell peppers (or more!)
1 package sausage
Basil, Rosemary, Thyme and Parsley to taste
Salt & Pepper to taste
Cook your sausage in a frying pan and remove from the pan or for a vegetarian start with a generous dash of EVOO, then add your onion cut into 12 or so large wedges (they'll separate as they cook.)  Add the garlic as the onion becomes translucent.  Add peppers and cook to your liking.  At the end add the fresh herbs.  I use the most basil and parsley and am more sparing with the rosemary especially.  Add back the sausage and serve with sourdough bread!
Original Granola - This is our granola with the most nuts and seeds!  A great way to start the day.  You can add water or milk and cook into oatmeal, or eat it dry.  Ingredients:Oats, honey, canola oil, whole almonds, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, sesame seeds, sliced almonds, vanilla.
Sourdough Bread - This bread makes an amazing slice of garlic bread!  Just amazing toasted and dipped in soup or for sandwiches.  It is tangy and crusty and nom nom nom!
Ingredients: Unbleached Flour, Whole Wheat Flour, Rye Flour, water, starter, salt
Banana Bread & Cinnamon Toast Bread Combo - These breads are both amazing.  I especially love the cinnamon toast bread made into a breakfast casserole, or french toast!

Cinnamon Bread - 1 small loaf loaded with goodies for french toast or regular toast.
Ingredients: Flour, whole eggs, butter, water, granulated sugar, brown sugar, canola oil, yeast, cinnamon, salt.

Banana Bread - 1 loaf - Bananas, flour, sugar, buttermilk, canola oil, whole eggs, baking soda, salt
*Recipe*  Breakfast Casserole

1 loaf of cinnamon toast bread
1 dozen eggs
1/2 teaspoon apple or pumpkin pie spice
Splash of milk/keifer or spoonful of plain yogurt
Break up the loaf into a casserole dish.  Beat eggs together, add the splash of milk/keifer or a generous tablespoon of plain yogurt or not if you don't do dairy.  Pour over the loaf and mix a bit with your hands to spread throughout and encourage the bread to absorb the egg mixture.  Cook covered about 35 - 40 minutes or until puffed up and set in the center.  Uncover and crisp up the top.  Serve hot!
